Happy Gardening

Hi all, following tonight's meeting we will focus on finishing the earthworks and then proceeding to get materials to establish some new gardens beds as soon as we can. In the mean time here are some pictures of a great community garden in Vancouver.

Manjimup community garden celebrates birthday this Sunday

Hi all well it has been a year since we officially turned the first sod at the garden and it may not have been an easy road but we have come along way. Our site has presented some challenges which have delayed our progress but we have persisted and hopefully we will soon have dealt with some of the site works holding us back. Water has also been a significant issue causing problems over last summer but I am happy to announce that we will soon have that fixed too with the installation of our water tank scheduled for tomorrow afternoon.

In the meantime we have a fresh sand pad waiting for the tank.

Hope to see you on Sunday at 10am for our busy bee and birthday celebrations. Bring some lunch or a BBQ and some tools.

Comming Up

The 28th July is the Manjimup Community Garden's first birthday! One year since we turned our first sod and had a wonderful day of socialising and tree planting. We are planning a special event to mark this milestone onSunday 4 August. (pop it in your diary)

Water Tank on Order

The much awaited water tank has been ordered but the installer wont be able to install the tank until August, nevertheless it will be an exciting step forward in the development of the Garden.

CLEAN  FILL WANTED
Do you have Clean fill or now some one who does? With the winter rains it is rather soggy up one end of the Garden and we are seeking clean fill to build the site up. This has been a major hold up in further development of the Garden and if you can offer some clean fill or know some one who can please contact Cassidy on 0427 558 963

Next Meeting

Well its been a while between posts but the garden is still moving forward with some earthworks having been started on the site and a workshop planned for this coming weekend on preserving and we have the next meeting this week on Wednesday. I have added the location of the Manjimup Community Garden to google maps so if your searching for it you will find a map appear as well now.

Last nights busy bee was another productive afternoon with a field of corn planted along with peas a lettuce and others. Many thanks to all those who have gotten the garden to this point, its really starting come together and looks great.

Composting Workshop
The composting workshop was a great success and a fun day with the outcome that we now have three composting bays in the community garden along with two worm farms and participants all learned a bit more about how to compost and maintain worm farms.

A visit to the Walpole Community Garden

Not sure where we are? The Manjimup community garden is located in the timber park towards the north east corner of the park behind the historic Hamlet area and the vehicle shed

So far we have setup some garden beds but we still need to raise more funds for our water tank before we go to far.

We also have some areas we have to clean up so we can maximize the use of our garden area
